GMC Savana Recalled Over Rear View Mirrors

GM is recalling GMC Savana cargo and cutaway vans manufactured between January 28, 2016, and May 18, 2016, because they do not meet the Federal mirror requirement.

According to Auto Recalls for Consumers, the Savana vehicles were manufactured without an inside rear view mirror and with a right-hand convex exterior rear view mirror instead of a flat one. Federal requirements dictate that these vehicles need to have either a rear view mirror or flat left and right-hand extended mirrors.

One cause for issuing a recall is when either the manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a piece of motor vehicle equipment poses an unreasonable safety risk. The lack of a clear unobstructed view to the back of the Savana can increase your chances of getting into an accident.

With a safety recall like this, GMC is required to contact owners of the affected vehicles and fix the problem free or charge. To solve the problem, dealerships will install a right-hand flat rear view mirror.

We donít know when GM will start notifying owners, but you can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 to see if your vehicle is affected. GMís recall number for the rear view mirror is 16036.

Could be worse but at least it's as simple and easy to fix as this is. But at this point with how long it has been in production for, it's no surprise bigger things haven't come up.

Agreed, that's not too bad. At least the savana isn't being recalled for mechanical or system problems. I looked around and it seems like around 40 units are affected, that's not a lot compared to other recalls I've seen.

40 units is very low in terms of recall numbers. That and thankfully it's nothing serious so nothing too much to worry about

Not a lot but a recall is a recall and the word has to get out.
