GM Express Warranty/ Transmission Service

My 2011 GM Express began to vibrate (Rumble strip sounds) at speeds around 40-45MPH. I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a bad torque converter. It was under warranty (August 2015) so no charge! Fast forward a little over a year. Same symptoms, rumble strip sounds at about 40-45MPH. Take it back to the dealership. Diagnosis: "internal' problems with the transmission and it needs to be replaced. Oh, by the way, sorry it is no longer under warranty. Am I wrong to think that the initial diagnosis was wrong, maybe the transmission should have been replaced then? Am I wrong to think that I may be getting ripped off?

Hard to say if you are right or wrong but one thing for sure is you won't always get the best service out of a dealership, so because of that I see people that try to get multiple opinions and decide what to do from there on. At this point I would recommend you get a second opinion.

Which dealer did you go to?

I think at this point, I would take it to a reputable tranmission shop and have them diagnose it. The dealer at this point knowing that you don't have warranty could just be trying to shaft you. It's not like it's uncommon for them to do that but at the same time, there's also a chance they could be telling you the truth.

Get another opinion and go from there.
